Goal Getter Program

Habits of Happy People

Continuing on our theme of how to be happy, I read an article from mindbodygreen entitled “25 Habits of People Who Are Happy, Healthy, & Successful” by Kristy Rao.

Here are some highlights: “They go by a routine and make exercise a part of it. It takes practice to develop healthy habits and stick with them. Once you do, your internal foundation will be strong.”

“They make time for themselves. Whether it’s getting eight hours of sleep every night, finding 15 minutes to read the newspaper in peace or an hour to go to the gym, they make it a priority — just like everything else. When you take care of yourself, you have a bigger impact on others.”

“They are spiritual. This doesn't necessarily mean religious. It could mean setting aside time for reflection through yoga or meditation.”

“They follow their inner guidance. Not only do they have a vision, but they follow it.”

“They finish what they start.”

What I found interesting is that all of these refer to having a plan, and doing daily actions to support that plan. Having a plan and daily actions to support it are a great way to finish what you start. So how do you develop healthy habits? The answer to that question is the foundation to my “Goal Getter” program that I use, and provide to my clients.

Here are some things that I think are the foundation to any successful plan or goal:

1) Emotional Resiliency: Which of your goals are you ready for now, and which should be put on the back burner until you have more confidence and momentum?

2) Congruency: Do you know how to get your conscious and unconscious minds to move in the same direction? It is not as easy as you may think.

3) How do you overcome Homeostasis (the desire to maintain the current status quo)?

4) What in your HABE (Habits, Attitudes, Beliefs, Expectation) isn’t working?

To give you an example of Homeostasis, how many times have you or someone you know tried to make big changes in your diet, exercise, habits etc only to see yourself “snap back” to the old you within a few weeks? Understanding and mitigating these 4 blocks is what the Goal Getter program is all about. If you would like to know more, feel free to contact us!
